Hair extensions can be installed of many different methods, lengths, colours and qualities of hair.
We offer free consultations for you to have a personalised quote as it is impossible to give a price without seeing your own hair. The factors that we need to consider are the length you require, how thick your natural hair is and the colours we have to match.
Your stylist is completely skilled in recommending for your hair type and needs but this cannot be done without a face to face consultation. If you are looking to have a colour and extensions with SalonSabina feel free to book a colour appointment and we can do the consultation of the extension at the same time.
If you are looking to change the colour of your hair but don’t want to go down the hair colouring route, having quality hair extensions fitted is a great way to add some colour. You can add some highlights or lowlights, or add a shock of bright purple or silver. Using hair extensions to add colour to your hair is a great way to go.
We provide nanorings (most popular method), micro rings, tapes and fusion bonds.
Extensions are completely safe for your hair when maintenance appointments are adhered to. Each method has very different application techniques which we can help you decide what suits your needs at your consultation.
What is nano ring extensions?
The process of fitting nano ring hair extensions involves placing individual extension strands to small sections of your hair and securing them with a metal nanoring. The nano ring itself (as the name suggests) is tiny and 90% smaller than a traditional micro ring, which is why it is often more suitable for those with finer hair. This is not limited to finer hair but it’s a huge bonus for clients with finer hair.
They are also available in a variety of colours, making it easier to match them to the root colour they are being fixed too.
What are tape-in extensions?
Tape-in extensions are the most popular hair extension trend on the market. Tape-in hair extensions are thin tape wefts, 1 inch wide pre-taped hair wefts, that get “taped-in” in between your own hair in “sandwich” like bonds.
What are micro ring extensions?
Micro ring extensions use a technique with tiny copper rings to combine strands of natural hair with the hair extension. Also known as micro bead or micro loop extensions, they are a really great choice when it comes to a longer-term hair extension solution for thick hair. The hair extensions are applied one strand at a time with the rings holding the extensions in place securely. No glues or chemicals are required. Hair extensions using the micro ring technique last for around 3 to 4 months before maintenance is required and hair as short as 4 inches long can be extended with this method.
What are fusion bond extensions?
Fusion bond extensions are also known as “glue in”, “keratin bond” and “hot fusion” extensions. The method is the oldest way of fitting hair extensions.
Each extension has a keratin tip which is melted using an application tool. The soft keratin can then be shaped with your fingers and moulded around the client’s natural hair. When it cools it hardens and bonds to the hair, fixing the extension in place with a transparent bond about the size of a grain of rice. As the client’s hair grows and the extensions need to be moved up the bonds can be loosened with an alcohol-based remover and reapplied. However, this can be quite tricky so I recommend this to be for a client who wants extensions applied for a holiday and then maybe not keep them after.
Extension appointments require maintenance 6-12 weeks depending on the method and your hair type. This can all be explained at your consultation. Please feel free to book this online. We do have a constant waiting list so please book your consultation as far in advance.
